Welcome to Shields Township Online

Township government is the oldest form of government in the United States, dating back to 1636. From the beginning, Townships provided an important link between the people they serve and the vital government services that are best provided close to home.

Here in Shields Township, we carry on our proud tradition by providing a host of services, including voter registration, property assessment, general assistance, emergency assistance, road maintenance, and programs for seniors, children and families. Because the federal government has been downsizing and shifting responsibilities to state and local governments, Shields Township has expanded its scope to meet the increased needs of our community in a fiscally sound and responsible manner.

We are always happy to discuss our services and to help you learn more about your local Township government and the services we provide.

Respectfully,

 Gale Strenger Wayne

Shields Township Supervisor
